Bernard Chandran, the King of Fashion, has revealed his latest Petang Raya collection and the Kurungs have all gone vintage. We particularly love the silhouettes in this collection, which is clearly about proportions, volume and placement of embellishments. Glitter and deep rich tones including black and olive green are seen dominating the collection, whilst classy matt gold and bronze, colourful prints are interspersed in between the collection.

Taking inspiration from the glossy Parisian nights of the 70s, the collection is a luminous array of rich colours and textures at play. Strikingly glamorous, the Kurungs and Kebayas are seen in a number of vintage overtures including the pant-skirt style, free- spirited kaftan, and playful jump-suit with overlay, designed using a variety of techniques like pleating, ribbing and weaving to give structural levels to the designs.
The Petang Raya collection blends the use of fine ‘Songket’, geometrical and floral prints on the gentlechiffon, denim, lace, cashmere blend tweed and luxurious trimmings including crystals and fur.
